Scott Oliver Hall was born on October 20, 1958, and was a professional wrestler in the United States. He is most known for his work with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) as Razor Ramon and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as his true name. He may not be with us anymore but his legacy will always be remembered. Hall began his career in 1984 before joining the WWF in May 1992 under the moniker Razor Ramon and rising to stardom. He won the WWF Intercontinental Championship four times while working for the organization.

In May 1996, he left the business and joined rival promotion WCW, where he was a founding member of the New World Order (nWo) group alongside Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash. He was a two-time WCW United States Heavyweight Champion, a one-time WCW World Television Champion, and a nine-time WCW World Tag Team Champion during his stint with the promotion. In February 2000, he departed WCW and briefly returned to the WWF (later called WWE) in 2002.

Hall has been dubbed “one of the most magnetic performers in the contemporary history of professional wrestling” by pundits. Hall was a one-time world champion, holding the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship, but never won a world championship in a major company. In 2014, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a singles combatant, and he was inducted into the nWo Hall of Fame in 2020.

Scott Hall in WWE

In August 1987, Hall had a trial at a home show. Hall was given another audition on January 23, 1990, at a WWF Wrestling Challenge filming in Fort Myers, Florida. Hall was defeated by Paul Roma in the tournament, however he was not signed by the company. WWE Intercontinental ChampionshipAs “Razor Ramon,” a shady and sophisticated Cuban American bully from Miami, Hall joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1992.

In May 18, 1992, he debuted as Razor Ramon in a dark match against Chris Hahn on a Wrestling Challenge tape. Razor Ramon made his ring debut on the August 8, 1992 broadcast of Superstars, defeating local jobber Paul Van Dale (Carmella’s father) with his finishing move, The Razor’s Edge, after weeks of introduction segments.

A 20-man battle royal was conducted on Monday Night Raw on October 4, 1993, with the final two contestants facing off the following week for the vacant WWF Intercontinental Championship. The last two were Razor and Rick Martel. The next week on Raw, Razor won the Intercontinental Championship by pinning Martel with a Razor’s Edge.

Ramon and Shawn Michaels developed a dispute about who had a greater claim to the Intercontinental Championship. Michaels’ title had been taken away months prior due to “inactivity.”

Ramon finally put an end to the feud when he defeated Michaels in a ladder match at WrestleMania X, reclaiming both titles and becoming the undisputed Intercontinental Champion. Hall last wrestled for the WWE in a six-man tag bout alongside Big Show and X-Pac against Austin, Bradshaw, and Ric Flair on Raw in 2002, which resulted in a no contest.
