Owen Hart in WWE

Hart signed with Stampede in the summer of 1988 as a result of his success in Japan and Stampede’s working partnership with the World Wrestling Federation. Instead of advertising Owen as Bret Hart’s younger brother, the WWF chose to give him a masked “superhero” persona that suited his high-flying skills. He debuted in the WWF as The Blue Blazer (formerly The Blue Angel), defeating the likes of Terry Gibbs, Steve Lombardi, and Barry Horowitz in his early outings.

The Blue Blazer made his pay-per-view debut with The Ultimate Warrior, Brutus Beefcake, Jim Brunzell, and Sam Houston against The Honky Tonk Man, Greg Valentine, Outlaw Ron Bass, Bad News Brown, and Dangerous Danny Davis at Survivor Series ’88. Valentine removed the Blazer, but his side went on to win the match.

When Bret Hart’s feud with Jerry Lawler erupted in the middle of 1993, Owen remained by his brother’s side and faced Lawler in the United States Wrestling Association, where most of the WWF talent was considered the heels. Owen defeated Papa Shango to win the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship.

After SummerSlam in 1998, he paired up with Jeff Jarrett. Debra Jarrett, Jarrett’s manager, was on their side. During this time, a scenario was offered in which Hart was meant to have an on-screen affair with Debra, which Owen declined.

On January 25, 1999, during the Blue Blazer angle, Hart and Jarrett beat Ken Shamrock and The Big Boss Man for the WWF Tag Team Championship. At WrestleMania XV, the duo successfully defended the championships against Test and D’Lo Brown. On the (pre-taped) April 5, 1999 edition of Raw, they lost the belts against Kane and X-Pac. However, Hart and Jarrett continued to work together until Hart’s death in May during the Over the Edge pay-per-view event.

Hart earned his first championship in WWE at WrestleMania XI when he teamed with Yokozuna to capture the tag team belts from the Smoking Gunns, but he has never won a singles world championship gold in WWE.

Is Owen Hart in the WWE Hall of Fame?

Because of a legal battle between WWE and his wife, Martha Hart, Owen Hart will never be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. As she is completely certain that her husband died as a result of WWE, and if we look at the data, we can see that this is accurate.
