Former WWE wrestler CM Punk is a very controversial superstar. He is known to rub people the wrong way and over the years, that attitude of his has been detrimental to him. He left WWE in acrimonious circumstances and the same can be said about his time in AEW.

During his time in WWE, Punk was at the top of the mountain when he took on The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29. Punk lost the match but went on to put on a good show like he always does but according to WWE legend Mick Foley, Punk was not happy that the match was not the main event.

Mick Foley was speaking on his Foley is Pod podcast when he revealed how Punk felt about the match. He said, “I said, ‘Phil, you decide the main event. The fans decide.’ I think Edge and I at WrestleMania 22 had a right to say we had the match of the night in 2006 and by no means, shape, or form were we advertised as the main event. You go out there, and you try to steal the show. And in wrestling and life, we do get to decide what our own great moments are. And so I think if Phil would’ve been able to do that, he would’ve been happier.”

Teddy Long has his say on whether Triple H and CM Punk can bury the hatchet

CM Punk has not returned to AEW since he was suspended after an altercation involving himself, Ace Steel, and The Elite. Although Punk’s fate remains unknown, The Elites were defeated by the Death Triangle in their first appearance on AEW TV since the battle at Full Gear.

With the possibility that Punk, who has won the AEW World Championship twice, may not be returning to the business after what happened, some have speculated that he may try again in WWE. WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long spoke with Wrestling Inc. Senior News Editor Nick Hausman on whether WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H and Punk might let bygones be bygones.

Long said, “These are two grown men, and I think that they can sit down and they can talk and they can settle their differences. If Hunter sees that there’s money still in CM Punk, then Hunter will act on it. And I think CM Punk, like I said, ain’t a guy out here looking for a job. I think he just wants to be treated right, and whatever angle or push they’re going to give him, he just wants to have them do it right. I think they could bury the hatchet, and I think it would work.”
