Yuvraj Singh Dhesi a.k.a Jinder Mahal(born July 19, 1986) is a Canadian professional wrestler who currently competes for WWE on the SmackDown brand. He is of Punjabi Sikh ancestry from India.  He graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree in communications and culture. Gama Singh, his uncle, was a famed wrestling heel in the early days of Stampede Wrestling and competed all over the world (and briefly for the WWF, now WWE) in the 1980s.

Mahal began his career on the indie circuit before joining WWE in 2010 and making his main roster debut the following year. He joined the stable 3MB with fellow wrestlers Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre after a brief alliance with his kayfabe brother-in-law The Great Khali, until he and McIntyre were dismissed from the promotion in 2014.

Mahal returned to WWE in 2016 with a much better physique and was given a push, eventually winning the WWE Championship from Randy Orton in April 2017, becoming the 50th WWE Champion. He would go on to win the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 34 in 2018 and the WWE 24/7 Championship twice in 2019.

Mahal began his professional wrestling career at the Martial Arts Fitness Center in Calgary, where he trained under Rick Bognar, after growing up in a wrestling household. He made his professional wrestling debut as Raj Dhesi in Premier Martial Arts Wrestling (PMW), then went on to train with Allen Coage and Gerry Morrow, wrestling in a resurrected Stampede Wrestling with future WWE performers Natalya, Tyson Kidd, and Viktor.
