The “Rated-R Superstar” had introduced Judgment Day a faction that included Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley, and Damian Priest. However, in a shocking turn of events the group quickly turned against its leader on “WWE Raw” following Hell in a Cell 2022. The abrupt betrayal left fans puzzled and curious about the direction the storyline was taking. It turns out even Edge himself was not entirely thrilled with how things unfolded.

During an appearance on “Talk is Jericho,” Edge revealed that the original plan was for him to lead Judgment Day for at least another year. However, WWE’s creative team decided to change course and accelerate the storyline.

When we were doing Judgment Day, the plan was Balor to join, and about a year later, they all turned on me,” Edge explained. “I get to Hell in a Cell, and it was like, ‘No, we’re changing everything, and he’s joining tomorrow and turning tomorrow.”

This unexpected shift in the storyline left Edge contemplating WWE’s intentions for his character. He believed that the faction could have benefited from his leadership and the abrupt change in creative plans raised questions about the direction of his WWE journey.

Edge shares why Judgment Day betrayed him

[Judgment Day] was just starting to find some legs, but it was going to be swimming upstream with me in it, it really was. I started to have that realization of, like, ‘I don’t think they’re gonna get where they need to get to with me in this thing.'”

Edge’s commitment to making the Judgment Day storyline work was evident. He went to great lengths getting 30 custom suits made, cutting his hair, changing his theme music, and even altering his in-ring style. However, despite his efforts it appeared that WWE’s creative team had a different vision in mind.

I tried changing everything and realized that, at this stage, it’s not what they want.” The abrupt turn of events in the Judgment Day storyline left both fans and Edge himself pondering the future of his character. While WWE’s creative decisions may have changed the trajectory of the faction. It’s clear that Edge’s commitment to delivering a compelling narrative remained steadfast.

The WWE universe continues to witness the evolution of storylines and characters, Edge’s journey serves as a reminder that the world of professional wrestling is ever-changing. Fans can only speculate about what lies ahead for the “Rated-R Superstar” and the unexpected twists and turns that WWE has in store for its loyal audience.
