It is an enormous accomplishment to win a championship, but a few rookie champions are unable to enjoy their victory since they lose an unplanned championship match the same evening. WWE title transitions are typically thrilling events that fans appreciate. The selection of a new champion might be unpredictable sometimes and predictable other times. Not every champion, however, is immune to feeling exposed and dropping their freshly won title while they least anticipate it.

When a wrestler loses the gold immediately after winning it, they typically lose their title as a result of a Money in the Bank cash-in. The majority of MITB winners are astute, and they will take advantage of a reigning champion when they are not at their best, making winning the championship simple. However, that is not the first instance in which wrestlers have lost a championship they had previously won; the 24/7 rule in Hardcore Title matches or 24/7 Championship matches additionally followed an analogous trajectory. Nevertheless, the sudden sequence of champion announcements is alarming because the initial title change hardly gave fans time to adjust.

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho challenged Rob Van Dam to a match for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw on October 27, 2003. Because of their excellent on-screen connection, Jericho ended Van Dam’s tenure as Intercontinental Champion and joined Jeff Jarrett on six reigns. As co-Raw General Manager Steve Austin ordered Y2J to defend the Intercontinental Title against RVD in a steel cage match, Jericho’s reign as champion ended in failure. Van Dam started the night as the Intercontinental Champion and finished the contest as the Intercontinental Champion. This was a fantastic match between the two.

Jeff Hardy

At the 2009 Royal Rumble, Jeff Hardy lost the WWE Championship to Edge, but five months later, at Extreme Rules, the Charismatic Enigma attempted to win the World Heavyweight Championship against Edge in a ladder match. It came as unsurprising that these two experts in ladder matches put on a great show in their contest. With his victory, Hardy began his first reign as the world heavyweight champion. Fans of Hardy were unsatisfied when CM Punk used a hurt Hardy to fulfill the terms of his Money in the Bank contract. The Second City Saint needed two GTS in order to win the World Heavyweight Championship twice.

Big Show

At TLC 2011, Big Show and Mark Henry’s feud persisted, with Show aiming to end Henry’s reign as world heavyweight champion. Show and Henry engaged in a chairs match, with the World’s Largest Athlete thoroughly defeating Henry. Show became the third person to capture the WWE, World Heavyweight, and ECW Titles with this triumph in the clash of the behemoths. After the game, Henry, who was ultimately very unsatisfied, viciously chaired Show. Daniel Bryan took advantage of the situation, successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, and as a result, he was awarded the title of World Heavyweight Champion.

John Cena

Even though John Cena is used to Money in the Bank cash-ins, Elimination Chamber 2010 had a similar vibe. Big Game One of John’s best world title victories in his career came when he successfully defended the WWE Championship in a testing Elimination Chamber battle. Given that Mr. McMahon gave Batista an unscheduled WWE Title bout, Cena incurred a cost for his connection with Bret Hart. The Animal was no match for Cena, and Batista took advantage of the situation to use a Batista Bomb to ensure that Cena’s shortest WWE Championship stint lasted just five minutes.

Roman Reigns

One of the worst versions of Survivor Series that WWE has ever produced was Survivor Series 2015. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose qualified for the championship match in the competition to name a new WWE Champion. The Big Dog defeated Ambrose in the average match, ending his year-long journey to become WWE Champion. Reigns was extremely emotional after winning the WWE Championship as the confetti fell. Sheamus, however, had other plans and interrupted the celebration by using his Money in the Bank contract to ruin Reigns and begin his third reign as WWE Champion.
