Micah Christenson is an American volleyball player, who was named Best Server and Best Setter, and captured the gold medal for the United States at the 2014 NORCECA Continental Championship. Later, in 2014, he won the gold medal in the FIVB World League. Micah plays volleyball for both the Italian club Modena and the American men’s national volleyball team. Christenson won the NORCECA Championship in 2013, won the World League and World Cup gold medals in 2014 and 2015, and finished with the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Christenson, a 2011 graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kaplama in Honolulu, was a standout basketball and volleyball player for the school. Micah played in a total of six state championship games and helped his teams win three state championships (basketball in 2009 and 2011, and volleyball in 2011). He was a member of the USC Trojans men’s volleyball team while he was a student there. Micah played for the US Junior National Team in both the 2009 Boy’s Youth World Championship in Italy and the 2010 NORCECA Junior Championship in Canada, where they won the gold medal.
He participated in the 2011 U. S. During the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship in Brazil, the Junior National Team finished fourth, the highest placing for the US at the competition to date. During his tenure at U. S. NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship in Colorado Springs, in 2012, the Junior National Team took home the gold medal. He was called up to the senior team even though he was supposed to play for the 2013 US Men’s Junior National Team. Christenson made his international debut with the US team at the NORCECA Championship, which the USA won. Christenson was recognized as the best server and best setter at this competition.
His 2013 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup participation was also active. He won the gold medal at the Florence, Italy-hosted World League in 2014. At age 20, he started competing at the senior level. He is the youngest starting setter in US history to play for a national team at both the junior and senior levels. He and Cucine Lube Civitanova won the 2016–2017 Superlega, Italy’s top league, at the club level.
Adidas, Nike, and Athleteps, a sports Footwear company, have chosen Micah to serve as their brand ambassador.
