In 2023, a location to be determined by the Fédération International of Volleyball (FIVB), the world’s governing body of volleyball, will host the 18th FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U19 World Championship. Women’s national teams under the age of 19 from member associations compete in the event every two years. From August 1 to August 11, 2023, it will take place in Croatia and Hungary. This will be the first edition with under-19 national teams as the FIVB agreed in March 2022 to change the age range of the girls’ tournament from U18 to U19 in order to link it with the boys’ U19 World tournament. A player is required to have a birthdate that was post-Jan 1, 2005.

The final competition was intended to include 20 national teams. In January 2023, the FIVB did confirm an increase in the number of participating teams from 20 to 24 in order to “facilitate the co-hosting.” Along with Croatia and Hungary, who automatically qualified as the hosts and all of which had to be finished by the latest deadline of December 31, 2022, 19 other teams also qualified in five other continental competitions. The final three teams competed based on the teams that still needed to qualify and the Girls’ U19 FIVB World Ranking (excluding teams from the CEV).

For this stage of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U19 World Championship 2023, which runs from Tuesday through Sunday with a planned rest day on Friday, teams have been divided into four different groups. After the group stage, the competition will continue in a knockout style. On Wednesday, the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U19 World Championship will include a match between the USA and Japan. The USA is rated second in the FIVB U-19 World Rankings. Japan is ranked 16th in the FIVB U 19 World Rankings. There will be an exciting matchup on Wednesday.
