The Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship 2023 is unfolding between August 30 and September 6. The host city is Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand, where the competition is managed by the Thailand Volleyball Association, overseen by the Asian Volleyball Confederation. The games are taking place at two distinct venues within the city – the MCC Hall in The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima and Korat Chatchai Hall.
The Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship 2023 serves as a qualifier for the Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025. The top three teams from Asia will move on to compete in that global event. Thailand, being the host country, got an automatic spot in the main draw, while nine other nations qualified based on their showing in the championship held in 2019. Additionally, four specific countries – Uzbekistan, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Vietnam were granted entry based on their zonal regions.
As the competition is nearing its conclusion, Thailand and China have advanced to the much-anticipated final. In the battle for third place, Japan and Vietnam will play one another. Three out of the final four teams will eventually clinch their berths in the 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship. After a week of intense competitions, Thailand is all set to face China in the gold-medal match of the competition on August 6, Wednesday.
