The 2023 Women’s European Volleyball Championship will be the 33rd edition of the Women’s European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe’s governing volleyball body. the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. For the third consecutive time, it will be held in four countries: Belgium, Estonia, Germany and Italy.
Thursday will see Poland take on Ukraine in the preliminary round of the CEV Women’s European Volleyball 2023. Heading into Sunday’s match, Poland is coming after thrashing Belgium (3-0). On the other hand, Ukraine is also coming with a similar result against Belgium (3-0). The Polish as well as the Ukrainians have shown their dominance in the tournament against the Belgians. However, when they take the field against each other, it will be an exciting match to watch. Poland and Ukraine both have just one loss in their campaign so far. Let us see who has the last laugh on Thursday.
The drawing of lots was combined with a seeding of National Federations and performed. The four organizers of the tournament were seeded in the Preliminary pools. However, the finalists from the previous edition were drawn into different Preliminary pools. This ensured that the top teams would be separated from competing in the same groups. The organizers could select one team to join their pools. On the other hand, the 16 remaining teams were seeded in descending order in the number of cups which equals the number of Preliminary pools. The pointing system of the Women’s Euro Volleyball 2023 is a little different. For a 3-0 or 3-1 win the winner gets 3 points while the loser gets 0 points. However, in case of a 3-2 win, the winner will get 2 points while the loser will get 1 point. This has ensured an equitable distribution of points.
