China are placed second in Pool D with three points, while Colombia are rooted to the bottom with zero points to their name.
China will be keen to continue their good start to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they face newcomers Colombia on Tuesday. The Pool D contest will heavily be in favour of the Asian side and their start to the tournament justifies the favourite tag. However, the South American nation cannot be taken lightly as they would be keen to make their mark in this competition. Colombia, who are the 2021 South American Championship runners-up, are the only newcomers to the current edition.
In the opening fixture, China had a tricky challenge in the form of another South American country in Argentina. However, the Asians were simply too good for their opponents, as they won the contest 3-0. Even though the scoreline might look straight forward, China had to work hard for the win. On the other hand, Colombia also faced an Asian side, Japan, who won the contest 3-0. As it stands, China are placed second in Pool D with three points, while Colombia are rooted to the bottom with zero points to their name.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
