Gear up for a thrilling volleyball extravaganza as Chennai gears up to play host to the third installment of the Indian Premier Volleyball League, kicking off on February 15. Volleyball enthusiasts are buzzing with anticipation, ready to root for their beloved teams through an action-packed season that lasts until March 21, 2024. The season’s opening clash will see the current champs, the Ahmedabad Defenders, face off with the home team, the Chennai Blitz.
Fans can catch every spike and serve as all matches will air on television and be streamed online across India. Keep your eyes peeled for the Delhi Toofans, the new squad entering the league, as they join the existing lineup of nine teams vying for the championship. Only the top five teams will punch their tickets to the Super 5s playoffs, happening from March 11-18. The playoff victors will book their spot in the showdown on March 21.
Meanwhile, the teams in second and third place will duke it out on March 19 for the last spot. All the volleyball action is slated to go down at Chennai’s SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium. The ultimate victors will not only be celebrated but also earn a spot in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship, happening from December 9-15 in India. A particularly epic game to circle on your calendar is the face-off between the Calicut Heroes and the Bengaluru Torpedoes.
The match will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on March 14, during the Super 5s sixth game. After a tough break with a 1-3 set defeat against the Delhi Toofans, the Calicut Heroes are fired up to bounce back to their champion form. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Torpedoes are riding the high of a 3-2 set victory over the Ahmedabad Defenders, and they’re aiming to keep that winning momentum going.
