After defeating TJ Dillashaw, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling disclosed that he had $1 million in his bank account. Since joining the UFC in 2014, Sterling has made 17 appearances, and at UFC 280 last weekend, he successfully defended his title for the second time. Before the fight was interrupted in the second round, he controlled Dillashaw from the opening bell and profited from the pre-existing ailment of his opponent. Since fighters like Jake Paul have started criticizing the promotion’s pay structure, the issue of UFC fighter compensation has received extensive media coverage. But Sterling also acknowledged the promotion’s president Dana White and said he had used his profits to buy his mother a house.

After his latest victory in Abu Dhabi, Sterling told the MMA Hour, “My bank account, I finally touched a million dollars easily with my three mansions and other assets, not mentioning those.” “I’m proud to say all the things I’ve been able to do, buy my mother a house, and buy myself a house. It might not be anything to boast about in other sports, but for someone who has been in a sport like this, when the pay scale isn’t the wildest, I am. “Right now, where I am in my life, is a really nice place. Fortunately, it’s because of Dana White and Hunter Campbell, without whom I wouldn’t have the platform to achieve this. I understand that business is business, and I want to earn as much money as I can. Hopefully, we honor the deal before the fight, and we’ll see what the next major fight on the calendar is.”

One supporter who commented on Sterling’s latest wage increase said: “Good for him, but let’s be honest, he should’ve achieved that amount many years ago.” Fan X concurred: “atop his three dwellings as well. While I’m thrilled for Aljo, I also believe that a UFC champion should be able to make this decision without hesitation. It’s a sad statement when compared to other big sports.”
