The UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has suggested that Henry Cejudo will get the title shot next. Sterling is coming off an impressive victory over T.J Dillashaw at the UFC 280 event in Abu Dhabi this past weekend.

Aljamain Sterling made his second successful title defense via a second-round TKO over the former bantamweight champion T.J Dillashaw. Following the event, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding who’s going to get the opportunity to fight for the title next.

While Dana White had previously suggested that the winner of Sean O’Malley vs. Petr Yan would be next in line, the UFC boss changed his thoughts following Sterling’s victory. White threw Henry Cejudo into the mix after ‘The Funkmaster’ defeated T.J Dillashaw.

Reacting to the same during an appearance on The MMA Hour, he claimed that he feels like the UFC are looking for someone who can take him out.  “I almost feel and I could be completely wrong. I almost feel like they’re looking for a last hope of someone who can take out Aljamain Sterling.” said the UFC bantamweight champion

Did Henry Cejudo call out Aljamain Sterling as well?

The former UFC featherweight and bantamweight champion was quick to call out Sterling following his win over T.J Dillashaw. It is worth noting that Cejudo retired from the UFC in 2020 following his win over Dominick Cruz. However, he has since announced his return to the octagon and can be making his way back anytime soon.

Considering the fact that Henry Cejudo never lost his belts, UFC could very well end up giving him the next shot at Aljamain Sterling straightaway. That said, there has been no confirmation as to when Cejudo will return to the octagon. However, whenever that happens, it will be interesting to see if ‘Triple C’ can beat Sterling to become the bantamweight champion again or not.
