Whatever happens, Alexa Grasso will make history on Saturday night. The UFC women’s flyweight contender will challenge champion Valentina Shevchenko in her co-main event of UFC 285 at her T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This is her first title fight in the UFC and definitely her major career moment for any fighter. But beyond the personal milestone, Grasso (MMA 15-3, UFC 7-3) will become the first Mexican-born woman to compete for her UFC Championship belt. And she’s proud of her Lobo Gym products in Guadalajara. When asked about the historical significance of the title fight, Grasso MMA Junkie replied in Spanish, “It’s beautiful.” has always been my goal and that is what we do.

“Being able to open up to all the Mexicans that come after us is very important to me. It’s great. There is no denying that we are extremely excited and happy to be a pioneer in our country and to do something important with our partners. I just want to do well and win this title.” No matter what happens, Alexa Grasso will make history on Saturday night.

“Yeah, it’s funny. A lot of people have asked me in interviews: What does Mexico need for the sport to grow?” Grasso said. “I have always said that sport is basically new in this country, so it is only a matter of time.

“But when you look at the people in the UFC now, everyone is doing their best, training very hard, and opening their hearts every time they fight in the octagon. “It’s so nice to see my compatriots reach their goals and show that it’s possible. Yes, it’s tough and tough, but that’s all you want in life. Set goals and As long as you stay disciplined and believe in yourself, you can achieve anything.”
