Confidence has never been in short supply for 25-year-old MMA fighter Ian Garry as he gears up for his upcoming bout. He seems as self-assured as ever. Originally scheduled to face Geoff Neal, Garry’s opponent changed due to an injury and he now finds himself preparing for a showdown against late replacement Neil Magny on the PPV main card of UFC 292.

In a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Garry made it clear that he views himself as the one who is carrying the weight of UFC 292 on his shoulders. Elevating the excitement of the event headlined by Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley.

I believe that I am carrying this (UFC) 292 card on my back, and if it wasn’t for me, this card would go down the drain,” Garry confidently stated. “With the opponent change, at the end of the day, I’m just happy the fans get to see me. I know there is a lot of Irish and Brazilian support in Boston that are excited to have me there. I’m glad the fans get to watch me live in action.

Garry’s assertion about his pivotal role in the event is grounded in his recognition of his Irish heritage which automatically makes him a significant attraction to Boston’s diverse population. Irish Americans constitute a notable 22.8% of the city’s residents marking the highest percentage in the entire United States.

I’m Irish, I’m fighting in Boston, they have a massive Irish contingent. I’ve just been in Brazil for the last two-and-a-half months; the biggest contingent for Brazilians is in Massachusetts in Boston,” Garry explained.

This is the stage, the platform when I go in there, you said it, you got likes of Sean O’Malley and Aljamain and all these guys, I’m the superstar on the card.

Garry’s assertion that he is the superstar of the card reflects his unwavering belief in his abilities and his readiness to seize the spotlight. His confidence stems from past experiences as he noted that he had already embraced a similar role in his previous fight.

It happened in the last fight; it’s happening in this fight, the wheels are in motion. I just have to show up and do my thing, and the world will see,” Garry emphasized.

The fighter’s bold self-assuredness aligns with the mentality often exhibited by successful athletes. But it also adds an intriguing layer of anticipation to his upcoming matchup. As he steps into the octagon against Neil Magny, Garry’s determination to shine in front of Boston’s diverse and enthusiastic crowd sets the stage for an electrifying performance.

It’s also essential to balance it with preparation and adaptability. Garry’s willingness to embrace a late replacement opponent further highlights his dedication to delivering an impactful showing on the main card of UFC 292. As the event approaches, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing whether Garry can indeed live up to his claims and prove himself as the superstar of the night.
