Daniel Cormier doesn’t think Sean O’Malley will become the world bantamweight champion anytime soon. In the latest episode of the DC & RC show, Cormier shared his thoughts on the 28-year-old’s future in the UFC. During the “Tap In or Tap Out” segment of the show, the former UFC Champion was asked if he thought “Suga” would sit for the Bantamweight Championship in his next three fights. ‘DC’ denied, it but said O’Malley could keep the UFC belt:

“We are tapping for the timeframe. It is very fast. Three more matches are not enough to be promoted to the championship. Now he’s number one. So we imagine it could happen, but he’s number one because he beat Petr Jan…and a lot of people thought he lost the Jan fight. I’m retiring for these reasons, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sean O’Malley eventually became the UFC champion,” said Daniel Cormier. Sean O’Malley last played at UFC 280. “Suga” faced former bantamweight champion Petr Yan in a three-round contest. rice field.

The fight also earned Fight of the Night honors, and both fighters received additional checks for a $50,000 fight contract with the promotion. On a recent episode of The BroMalley Show, O’Malley shed light on his new contract. “SUGA,” said that not all of his demands have been met, but he is happy with the new contract.

O’Malley revealed he had asked for a pay-per-view point despite not having a UFC championship and was turned down by the UFC. The now self-managing 28-year-old said he had a relationship with his manager. We believe you couldn’t have gotten a better deal.

“I was going to get it, pay-per-view points weren’t champs, I wasn’t flying, but I re-signed with the UFC. A very kind deal that I’m proud of.” Tie…and I really don’t think any manager I’ve had could have gone there and gotten what I got.

O’Malley has quickly become one of the UFC’s most marketable stars, steadily growing his 8-1 record in his 10 fights with the 135-pound organization. He is currently on a five-fight undefeated streak, with his only loss in the UFC coming in 2020 by TKO to Marlon “Chito” Vera. All signs now point to O’Malley getting a title shot in his next fight, but it all depends on when reigning UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling returns to action. Sterling is targeting a May match against Henry Cejudo. That means O’Malley could be out at least in the first half of 2023, waiting for his own shot at becoming a champion. Either way, O’Malley’s future is set with his new UFC contract while he waits for his next assignment.
