According to sources in Ireland, Conor McGregor was detained for hazardous driving. The UFC fighter was allegedly arrested in Dublin after travelling between Lucan and Palmerstown in his Bentley Continental GT. McGregor, 33, is said to have been hauled over by local cops before being jailed “for traffic violations.”

According to the Irish Independent, McGregor was then arrested and taken to the Lucan police station before being released on bail.

The Notorious’ vehicle, estimated to be worth $260,000, was reportedly taken at the site before being handed to the former two-division UFC champion. McGregor is said to have been summoned to Blanchardstown district court in April, having previously been penalised for speeding at the same location in 2017. Karen Kessler, McGregor’s spokeswoman, replied to the allegations on Thursday morning.

Kessler said, “Mr. McGregor was driving to the gym when he was stopped by Gardai for alleged road traffic violations. He passed the drug and alcohol tests taken at the station.”

According to the Irish Independent, a risky driving prosecution in Ireland can result in fines of up to $7000 and up to six months in prison. McGregor has a history of driving offences and pled convicted to common assault in 2019.

When will Conor McGregor return to UFC?

The Irishman has lately spent a lot of time in his native country working his way back to full health after shattering his leg at UFC 264. Due to the severity of his injuries, the striker has allegedly rocketed to 86kg after being primarily confined to weight training.

He is anticipated to make a competitive comeback sometime this year, and he recently mentioned a fight with 77kg champion and pound-for-pound No. 1 Kamaru Usman. Following that, the Nigerian appeared to ridicule McGregor’s call, tweeting: “You guys want a murder scene in the Octagon.”

Over the weekend, UFC president Dana White revealed that Conor McGregor will be jetting to Las Vegas to negotiate his match with his next challenger.

Dana White said, “He’s coming into Vegas, we’re getting together and we’re gonna talk. We’ll see what’s next.

“Any Conor fight is good money-wise.”
