Jenson Brooksby onto the scene in the second half of the 2021 season with some outstanding performances and results on the main circuit, but he hasn’t made much progress since and has even had a few discouraging defeats. In his two marathon bouts in San Diego last week, he defeated Mackenzie McDonald in one and Christopher O’Connell in the other. The American teenager’s lack of fitness also contributed to some of his lacklustre recent outings. He was injured during the US Open swing last month, and since then, he hasn’t been able to play to his full level, which has led to him losing to Roberto Bautista Agut, Tommy Paul, and Carlos Alcaraz easily.

To qualify for the main tournament at this week’s ATP Seoul, Tung-lin Wu overcame Ryan Peniston in straight sets and an unfit Duck Hee Lee in three sets. Over the past several years, the 24-year-old has had quite a few dominant weeks on lower-level circuits, and it’s about time he begins winning on the main tour. It won’t be simple, though, as the champion of the 2022 Tallahassee Challenger doesn’t appear to be physically prepared to compete at the highest level. The world’s #212 player made it through qualification in Washington last month after failing to go past the first round of play against Alexei Popyrin at the French Open, Wimbledon, and Newport on the main tour this year.
