Professional tennis player Viktorija Golubic was born on October 16, 1992, in Switzerland. Golubic has so far won 10 singles titles, fifteen doubles titles, one solo title on the WTA Tour, and two singles WTA Challenger titles on the ITF Circuit. On February 28, 2022, she earned a singles ranking of No. 35, which was a career high. Her highest doubles position was No. 63 on January 15, 2018. Golubic participated in the $10,000 tournament in Budapest in June 2008 to make her ITF Women’s Circuit debut. At the Indian Wells Challenger, she went on to win her biggest victory since 2016, defeating Jennifer Brady in the final by saving a championship point. She defeated first seed Wang Qiang on the way to the victory, which was her first top-20 victory since October 2016. She beat Iga Swiatek and Yulia Putintseva at Wimbledon to advance to the third round of a major for the first time, but she fell to Dayana Yastremska in the next round. She lost to Elena Rybakina in the Jiangxi International Open quarterfinals in September. She then competed in the Guangzhou International Open semifinals before falling to Samantha Stosur. Golubic had a difficult time maintaining his form the next year. Her most notable performance came in September at the $80k Open de Cagnes-sur-Mer, when she advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Sara Sorribes Tormo. She lost in the first round of the Australian Open, the US Open, and she was eliminated in the French Open qualification. Golubic concluded the year ranked 137th in the world after dropping out of the top 100 in late February.

Top 50 debut

Golubic, who entered Wimbledon ranked 66th in the world, advanced to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal by defeating two seeded opponents en route: American Madison Keys, the 23rd seed, in the fourth round, and Veronika Kudermetova, the 29th seed, as well as two additional Americans, Danielle Collins and Madison Brengle, respectively.
