Then, on August 15, 2022, he captured his third Challenger championship in Chicago, moving him up 25 spots and into the top 100 for the first time. In Tel Aviv in September, Safiullin advanced to the second semifinal of the year before falling to top-seeded Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
