Jeffrey John “J. J.” Wolf is an American professional tennis player who was born on December 21, 1998. On October 17, 2022, he reached his highest ATP singles position of No. 56 in the world. Wolf participated in college sports at Ohio State. Wolf was raised in Indian Hill, Ohio, and was educated at Cincinnati Country Day School. He is a basketball coach in the NBA and the grandson of Charley Wolf. As the third-ranked prospect in the US in 2016, he made a commitment to play collegiate tennis for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Wolf got a career-high rating of No. 18 on the junior tour on May 16, 2016.
He was given a wild card to compete in the men’s singles match at the 2017 U.S. Open, however he failed to win a set. On August 12, 2018, Wolf defeated Jozef Kovalik, ranked 85th in the world, in the first qualifying round of the 2018 Western & Southern Open in Mason, Ohio. On November 18, 2019, he defeated Sebastian Korda in a hard-fought two-and-a-half-hour match to win the Champaign Challenger 2019, propelling him to a high point in his career in the ATP singles rankings. He was given a wildcard to the main draw match at the 2020 U.S. Open because of his performance in the Western & Southern Open. In the opening round of the U.S. Open, he upset Argentina’s Guido Pella, the 29th-seeded player, 6-2, 0-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Wolf was born to Brooke Wolf and Jeff Wolf, his father (mother). His father is a Rollins College Hall of Fame inductee and a former professional tennis player. At Miami University, his mother was a tennis player as well. Danielle, one of his sisters, is a member of the Ohio State women’s tennis team and also plays tennis.
