Daria Saville, an Australian professional tennis player, was born in Russia on March 5, 1994. She represented Russia until she moved to Australia in 2015. She competed under her maiden name until the time of her marriage to Luke Saville in 2021. Dasha, as  Daria Saville is also known, has won one singles title and three doubles titles on the WTA Tour in addition to four singles titles and two doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On August 28, 2017, she climbed as high as No. 20 in the world on the singles charts. On September 25, 2017, she climbed as high as No. 45 in the doubles rankings. Saville won both the US Open and the Youth Olympics in 2010, setting a combined junior career high. Saville has won matches in her career over previous Grand Slam champions Petra Kvitova (three times), Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic, and Angelique Kerber (her first win over a reigning world No. 1), all of whom were rated in the top 10 at the time.

2021-22 Journey

Saville was rehabilitating from an achilles tendon injury and plantar fasciitis when the Australian Open was held. At the Open de Cagnes-sur-Mer in September, she made a comeback to competition. She advanced past qualification and defeated Viktoriya Tomova in the quarterfinals. In the first round of the French Open, she defeated the 24th seed Dayana Yastremska to earn her first victory since July 2019. Eugenie Bouchard defeated her in the second round. She began her 2021 season at the inaugural Yarra Valley Classic, where she was defeated by Serena Williams, the fifth seed, in the second round. She lost to top seed and fellow countrywoman Ashleigh Barty in the second round of the Australian Open.

Following the title, Saville made the announcement that she would need achilles tendon surgery. In her first professional match since February, Saville defeated world No. 70 Greet Minnen while representing Australia at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in November.Australia defeated against Switzerland in the semifinals. Saville beat Magdalena Frch and Kamilla Rakhimova in Indian Wells qualifying in March 2022 to advance. This was Saville’s first top-10 victory since 2018, as she defeated ninth seed Ons Jabeur in the second round after overcoming Zhang Shuai in the opening round. She then defeated Elise Mertens, the 20th seed, before quitting against eventual finalist and sixth seed Maria Sakkari in the fourth round. She was given a main draw wildcard for the Miami Open the following week so she could compete there.

By overcoming Greet Minnen, fortunate loser Harmony Tan, Kateina Siniaková, and Lucia Bronzetti, she advanced to the quarterfinals. At the time, she was ranked No. 249 in the world, making her the lowest-ranked Miami quarterfinalist in history. In the quarterfinals, she was defeated by Belinda Bencic, the 22nd seed. She reached the quarterfinals by defeating Greet Minnen, lucky loser Harmony Tan, Kateina Siniaková, and Lucia Bronzetti. She was the lowest-ranked Miami quarterfinalist in history at the time, coming in at No. 249 in the world. She was defeated by Belinda Bencic, the 22nd seed, in the quarterfinals.
