Portuguese ancestry can be seen in Brazilian professional tennis player Thiago Moura Monteiro. Monteiro’s career-high ATP singles rating of No. 61 was obtained on October 17, 2022. Additionally, on January 31, 2022, he reached an ATP doubles ranking high of No. 144. He is currently Brazil’s best tennis player. In the Grade A Copa Gerdau in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2011, he won the junior singles match he most famously won. Monteiro began training at the Tennis Route Academy in Rio de Janeiro in October 2014, joining other well-known Brazilian athletes there including Marcelo Demoliner and Beatriz Haddad Maia. Up until January 2017, when he joined with the Spanish label Joma, Thiago wore Lacoste gear. He plays using Babolat rackets. Additionally, Elemidia (from February 2017), Correios, and Fundaço Beto Studart are sponsors (since 2009).
