Professional tennis player Radu Albot is from Moldova and was born on November 11, 1989. Having won the ATP singles (2019 Delray Beach Open) and doubles (2015 Istanbul Open) championships, he is the first player from Moldova to achieve so. In his professional career, Albot has won 1 ATP World Tour singles title, 1 ATP World Tour doubles title, 7 singles Challenger titles, 10 doubles Challenger titles, and 14 singles Futures titles. Since 2007, he has consistently competed for Moldova in the Davis Cup, and he currently owns both the singles and overall wins records. On August 3, 2015, he reached his highest ATP singles rating of No. 99, becoming the first Moldovan to enter the top 100. On August 5, 2019, Albot attained a career-high position of No. 39. Albot lost to Nicolás Jarry in the penultimate round of the 2019 Geneva Open in May, just missing out on a semifinal berth. At the 2019 Los Cabos Open in August, he advanced to his third semifinal of the year but lost to Taylor Fritz. He now has 25 ATP circuit victories overall for the season thanks to his three victories in the tournament. Albot represented Moldova in the Group stage of the inaugural 2020 ATP Cup in January of that year. For the first time at a Major, Albot advanced to the third round of the 2021 Australian Open, where he fell to the 24th seed, Casper Ruud, after defeating World No. 13 Roberto Bautista Agut. At the 2021 Singapore Tennis Open, where he was seeded sixth, he reached his first semifinal in 19 months and of the year, losing to Alexander Bublik. On August 2, 2021, he dropped out of the top 100 after eight losses in the opening rounds. He ended the year with a 6-15 ATP win-loss record. Albot defeated Australian wildcard Aleksandar Vukic in the third round of the 2022 Australian Open as a qualifier. He defeated Lukas Rosol to win the title in the 2022 Istanbul Challenger. On September 19, 2022, he reentered the top 100 at position No. 92 as a result.
