He used an unique exempt status to go to the quarterfinals of his home tournament in Stockholm, where he was defeated by top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. On October 24, 2022, he rose to No. 76 as a result. He maintained his strong play by earning a spot in the 2022 Rolex Paris Masters main draw for the second consecutive year. In the opening round, he defeated Alexander Bublik. In a match that lasted three sets, two tiebreaks, and three hours and thirty minutes, he was defeated by world No. 8 Felix Auger-Aliassime.
