The first title in doubles

She beat Kristna Plková and Kiki Bertens, the world’s No. 11 player, to get to the third round in a WTA-1000 tournament for the first time and qualify for Dubai. She made her top 100 singles debut after winning a WTA-1000 qualification match in Miami, where she advanced to the second round and defeated eventual finalist and world No. 9 Bianca Andreescu in a first-set tiebreak. Martincová defeated Ivana Jorovi 6-3, 7-6 at the French Open to win her maiden match in a Grand Slam competition. She then suffered a straight-sets loss against Jessica Pegula, the 28th seed. She entered Wimbledon in good shape and quickly advanced to the third round of a grand slam match by overcoming Nadia Podoroska and past quarterfinalist Alison Riske. The eventual finalist and fellow countrywoman Karolina Plková halted her winning streak.

Martincová then won her maiden WTA Tour championship without dropping a set in Prague. In the last game against fellow countrywoman and French Open champion Barbora Krejková, she only won two games. Although leading 4-1 in the first set and being an unseeded player in the US Open, Martincová was defeated 4-6, 0-6, by Victoria Azarenka, the 18th seed. In Ostrava, Martincová defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Katerina Siniakova on the way to her maiden WTA 500 level quarterfinal before falling to eventual champion Maria Sakkari. She lost a heartbreaking match at Kremlin Cup to eventual 2021 WTA Finals champion Garbie Muguruza in the second round, falling 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. Muguruza is ranked No. 6 in the world. She debuted in the top 50 in November and finished the year ranked 48 in the world. Prior to the Australian Open, she only won one singles match, but she did make it to her first WTA doubles final at the Melbourne Summer Set 2 with Mayar Sherif and other doubles final the following week at the Adelaide International 2, where she lost both matches in three sets.
