The Dutchman went as far as the round of 16 of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships where he was beaten by Rafael Nadal.
The 2022 season has been the one where Botic van de Zandschulp has scaled new heights and made his mark on the international tennis circuit. The Dutchman went as far as the round of 16 of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships where he was beaten by Rafael Nadal. This time, he would be hoping to go even further at the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open. Since Wimbledon, van de Zandschulp’s form had taken a turn for the worse as he suffered early exits in tournaments like the German Open, Citi Open, Canadian Open and Cincinnati Masters. However, he redeemed himself at the Winston-Salem Open, going as far as the semi-final, where he unfortunately suffered defeat at the hands of Adrian Mannarino. AT the US Open, the Dutchman will begin his campaign against Czech Republic’s Tomas Machac.
Machac is one of the players who had to go through three qualifying matches to make it through to the main draw of the US Open. The Czech defeated Flavio Cobolli in his final qualifier by a score of 7-6 (9-7), 5-7, 6-1. He recorded seven aces in the match and converted four out of six break points to seal his place in the hard-court Grand Slam.
Botic van de Zandschulp and Tomas Machac are scheduled to face one another in the first round match of the US Open 2022 on Monday, August 29 at 11:45 pm IST. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.
