Sara Sorribes Tormo and Karen Flipkens have made it through to the quarter-finals of the 2022 US Open where they will face the team of Ellen Perez and Nicole Melichar in the women’s doubles category. Tormo and Flipkens ousted Alexa Guarachi and Andreja Klepac in the round of 16 by a score of 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-1 after hitting one ace and recording six out of ten break points. Perez and Melichar are seeded 10th in the competition and they made short work of Anna Dalinina and Beatriz Haddad-Maia to make it through to the last eight of the Grand Slam. The score at the end of the match was 6-3, 6-3 as the Aussie-American pair hit one ace and converted two out of eight break points.
Sorribes Tormo/Flipkens and Perez/Melichar are scheduled to face each other on Tuesday, September 6 in the quarter-final of the 2022 US Open. The fourth and final Grand Slam of the season began on August 29 and will go on until September 11.
