Frances Tiafoe and Lorenzo Sonego are scheduled to take on one another in the first round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Monday, October 31.
Frances Tiafoe had an opportunity to rebound quickly after being outplayed by Emil Ruusuvuori in Stockholm two weeks ago, since he faced a top-20 player in Hubert Hurkacz in the opening round of the ATP Vienna last week. The American played well, but failing to convert a 5-1 lead in the first-set tiebreaker cost him the match, 6-7 6-3 3-6. The 24-year-old has performed admirably at the top level in the second part of the season, and a strong outcome in Paris will allow him to end the season on a high note. He made his first slam semifinal appearance at the US Open and went on to win the Laver Cup and the Davis Cup.
In the qualifying stages of the Paris Masters, Lorenzo Sonego faced off against the out-of-form Joao Sousa and Tallon Griekspoor. He lost a three-set match against an American opponent, Taylor Fritz, in the first round here in 2021 and would like to avoid a repeat performance this time. Apart from that one unexpected title-winning campaign in Metz last month, former world #21 has done nothing noteworthy in the last ten months, and as a result, he has slipped to #51 in the newest rankings. He was defeated in straight sets in his last three first-round encounters by Bernabe Zapata Miralles, Sebastian Baez, and Emil Ruusuvuori.
Frances Tiafoe and Lorenzo Sonego are scheduled to take on one another in the first round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Monday, October 31. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
The ATP Paris Masters 2022 will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 31, 2022 and conclude on November 6, 2022.
