Sebastian Baez hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Jason Kubler in the Australian Open in the first round and also in the opening round to Ben Shelton at the ASB Classic. In the opening round of the Maharashtra Open and Paris Masters, he lost to Martinez and Khachanov respectively. He beat Darderi in the first-round match of the ongoing Cordoba Open with the score ending 6-3, 6-4. He beat Barrios Vera in the quarter-finals by 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 and in the semis he knocked out Dellien by 4-6, 4-6.
Federico Coria has been in rock-solid form recently having been on a seven-match winning streak, he will be looking to carry this run. He has made it to the round of 32 stage of the ASB Classic losing to Giron after beating Van Assche and Barrere and he got knocked out of the Australian Open in the first round after battling it out with Fucsovics in what was a five-set thriller. He won the Concepcion Challenger beating the likes of Dmitriyevich Skatov, Dellien, Delbonis, Boscardin Dias, and Dutra da Silva. He beat Monteiro in the round of 32 match of the ongoing Cordoba Open with the score ending 6-2, 6-2 and in the round of 32 against Cecchinato, he received a walkover as his opponent retired due to injury when Coria was winning the match by 6-3, 3-1. He beat Francisco Cerundolo in the quarter-finals by 6-3, 3-1 with Cerundolo retiring midway through the match and in the semis he knocked out Ramos-Vinolas by 4-6, 6-7.
