After winning consecutive championships in Firenze and Antwerp, Auger-Aliassime travelled to Basel. He kept up his recent fine form by defeating Miomir Kecmanovic, Alexander Bublik, and Marc-Andrea Huesler to advance to the final four. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 1 player in the world, in straight sets in the semifinals. Auger-Aliassime has improved this year after dropping his first eight championship games. He won his first ATP title in Rotterdam at the beginning of the year, and he is about to win his third trophy in one month.

Over the past few weeks, Rune has demonstrated comparable excellence. He finished in second place at the Sofia Open before winning his second championship of the year last week at the Stockholm Open. In the Swedish capital, the kid overcame Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the trophy. Rune maintained his lead and defeated Alex de Minaur, Ugo Humbert, Arthur Rinderknech, and Roberto Bautista Agut to advance to the Basel final. He will be competing in his third final in October, just like the Canadian.
