Ankita Raina and Zhu Lin are scheduled to face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 WTA Korea Open September 21.
Zhu Lin began her match by defeating Jang Sejeong 6-3, 6-4 on the Center Court in an hour and three-quarters. The 130th-ranked local favourite was broken four times by the de facto defending champion, who dropped two service games. She had only won a tour-level main draw once before this year. For the past few years, her tour form has been in terrible shape. Since reaching her seventh quarterfinal of her career in Acapulco in February 2020, she has not done so. She nevertheless qualifies as a top 70 player because to her three victories in the previous 12 months at various levels, including the 125K Korea Open in December.
Ankita Raina, who is rated approximately two hundred places higher than Maddison Inglis, completed a remarkable comeback by saving a match point. She won 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in two hours and 18 minutes after making six of 15 breakpoints and is still in the Korea Open qualifying round. Her first tour-level main draw triumph came against Elisabetta Cocciaretto at the Phillip Island Trophy 19 months prior to this one. If she makes it to her first WTA quarterfinal at the age of 29, it will be a historic event. Her greatest quarterfinal to yet was at W100 Suzhou in 2019.
Ankita Raina and Zhu Lin are scheduled to face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 WTA Korea Open on Wednesday, September 21. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 19 and end on September 25.
