Benoit Paire is a professional tennis player from France. Reaching the fourth round of a Grand Slam is his best result, which he has accomplished four times. He has three singles titles under his belt: the 2015 Swedish Open, the 2019 Marrakesh Open, and the 2019 Lyon Open, and his career-high singles ranking is World No. 18, which he first achieved in January 2016. In doubles, he has a career high ranking of World No. 65, which he achieved on November 15, 2021. Paire was named Comeback Player of the Year in 2015, after rising from a career-low world No. 118 in the ATP singles rankings at the end of 2014 to a then-career-high world No. 19 at the end of 2015, following a knee injury that kept him out for much of 2014.

Paire's most successful year to date was 2011, when he made more ATP main draw appearances than the rest of his career combined. It was a year in which he climbed sixty places in the ATP Rankings and broke into the top 100 for the first time in his career. Paire also played in the main draw of three of the four Grand Slams (for the first time without qualifying), with his best performance coming in the second round of the Australian Open, where he lost to former world no. 3 and 17th seed Ivan Ljubicic.

Paire won his first career singles match against a Top 10 player at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in 2013, defeating World No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro 6–4, 7–6(7–3) to reach the singles quarterfinals of an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament for the first time. Paire advanced to the semifinals, where he was defeated by Roger Federer in two tight sets.

Paire lost in three tie-breaks to American teen-aged wildcard Noah Rubin, ranked 328 in the world, in the first round of the 2016 Australian Open, despite being seeded 17th. Richard Gasquet pulled out of the 2016 Olympics tennis tournament in July due to a back injury. Paire would take Gasquet's place in the men's singles draw. Paire (no. 16 seed) had two match points in the third and final set of his Olympic tournament second round match against Fabio Fognini on August 9, but Fognini won the match. The French Tennis Federation kicked Paire out of his country's Olympic Games squad and ordered him to leave the athletes' village shortly after he was knocked out of the tournament.
