By defeating Rebecca Peterson 7-5, 6-3, and coming close to defeating the defending champion Yulia Putintseva, Laura Pigossi attempted to maximise the potential of her fortunate loser entrance in Budapest. After the Bogota final run in April, it was the second time she had advanced past the first round of a WTA competition. After earning the bronze medal in doubles at the Olympics in Tokyo, the Brazilian has gained notoriety during the past 12 months. Reka-Luca Jani would be devastated after losing to Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the opening round of the Budapest event by scores of 7-6 and 6-2. She had two set points in the tiebreak, giving her a chance to win for the sixth time in a tour-level main draw and the first time in a year. The Hungarian is having an equally successful 2022 clay court season after celebrating her first WTA quarterfinal in Belgrade last year. She has advanced nine times to the quarterfinals of competitions ranging from W25 to 125K, and her ranking has increased by more than 40 spots since January.
Laura Pigossi and Reka-Luca Jani will take on each other on Sunday, July 17 in the first round of the 2022 WTA Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 17 and conclude on July 23 this year.

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
