Parry began the season ranked 115th in the world, but has gradually moved up the rankings to become a top-100 player, currently ranked 78th. Parry’s best performances this season came on the grass courts of Gaiba and Wimbledon, where she reached the semifinals at the former and the third round at the latter. Things haven’t gone so well for Parry on hard courts. The Frenchwoman competed in seven hard court tournaments at the start of this season, but only made it to the main draw in six of them. Parry lost in the first round of the Australian Open, where she received a direct entry.

There have been no previous encounters between Parry and Sun. Sun, who is better known on the ITF circuit, made her Grand Slam debut earlier this year at the Morocco Open, where she was blown off the court by Arantxa Rus. She then attempted to make the main draw at Wimbledon but was eliminated in the third qualifying round before losing in the first round of the Concord Open, a WTA125 event. Sun has performed admirably in both of her qualifiers at Granby, defeating Ena Shibhara and Jana Fett in the final rounds to advance to the main draw. While Parry is a 1/4 favorite to win, Sun could make things difficult for her.

Diane Parry and Lulu Sun are scheduled to face one another in the first round of the 2022 Granby Open on Monday, August 22. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 21 till August 27.

The 2022 Granby Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 21 and conclude on August 27 this year.
