Cameron Norrie of the United Kingdom will face Belgian veteran David Goffin in the 2022 Wimbledon quarter finals.
Cameron Norrie of the United Kingdom will face Belgian veteran David Goffin in the 2022 Wimbledon quarter finals on Wednesday, July 6th. Norrie defeated Goffin in the second set in their sole match on clay in Barcelona in 2021. Cameron Norrie advanced to the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career after defeating American Steve Johnson in straight sets. After an early break in the third set for Norrie, the British number one held solidly for a straight sets triumph and his first major quarter-final, and nowhere better than in front of his home supporters.
Goffin, a quarterfinalist in 2019, had previously exited the Round of 16 in 2015 and 2016. In the round of 16, He faced up against American Frances Tiafoe. The match got off to a tense start, with Goffin defeating the American in the opening set tiebreak 7-3. The Belgian then made a tremendous return to win the fourth set 6-4 and reclaim his spot in the Wimbledon last eight. An unexpected Wimbledon quarter-final between two tenacious players awaits us. While neither possesses a normal grass court game, they have both excelled in the previous week and earned a berth in the final eight.
Cameron Norrie v David Goffin are scheduled to face each other on Wednesday, July 6 in the quarter-final round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 4 as the likes of Nadal, Kyrgios, Fritz and de Minaur and others will be in action.
