Nicolas Jarry hasn’t been in good touch lately and has been losing all the recent tournaments he has played in. He will be adamant to make a change in fortune and perform well at the ongoing Rio Open. He couldn’t make it past the first stage mark in any of his last tournaments, losing to Meligeni Rodrigues Alves at the Argentina Open right in the qualifying stages, and also to Riedi at the Canberra Challenger. At the Australian Open, he went past three qualifying rounds and made it to the second round losing to Ben Shelton. And at the Tennis Napoli Cup, he was knocked out by Carballes Baena at the round of 32 stage. In the ongoing Rio Open, he beat Carabelli and Juan Cerundolo in the first two qualifiers by 6-1, 6-2, and 2-6, 3-6 respectively. He beat Musetti in the first-round matchup by 4-6, 1-6, and Martinez in the round-of-16 matchup by 6-2, 6-2.
Sebastian Baez has been a huge name for the last few years but the results have not done justice to his reputation at well recently. Despite his massive victory recently at the Cordoba Open, where he beat Coria in the final and on the way outside opponents such as Dellien, Barrios Vera, and Darderis, he has not made it out of the first round in the majority of the tournaments. Like at the Australian Open, where he lost to Kubler, at the Argentina Open to Lajovic, and also at the Maharashtra Open to Martinez. The same was the case at the Paris Masters and the ASB Classic, where he lost to Khachanov and Shelton respectively in the opening round itself. In the ongoing Rio Open, he beat Bellucci in the first-round matchup by 3-6, 2-6, and Varillas in the round-of-16 matchup by 5-7, 6-7.
