Brandon Nakashima and Jack Draper will take on one another in the semifinal of the 2022 ATP Next Gen Finals on November 12.
In the group rounds of the ATP Next Gen Finals, Brandon Nakashima had it a lot easier thanks to Holger Rune’s untimely withdrawal as defending champion of the Paris Masters. He played with a lot of confidence and authority considering that he was the only member of the Green Group with any prior tournament experience. In his brief career, the American has won 42 matches on indoor hard courts while his three rivals have only amassed 48 victories there. He defeated Matteo Arnaldi in a five-set thriller in the first match, and then he crushed Jiri Lehecka and Francesco Passaro to get to the semifinal in Milan for the second straight year.
On these Milan courts, Jack Draper took some time to settle in and establish his range, and it almost cost him a spot in the semifinal. Against Dominic Stricker and Chun Hsin Tseng, he dropped four straight sets, but he was able to turn things around and win the next six sets to stay in the tournament. In addition to advancing to the semifinals, the gifted Briton found his form again just in time for this crucial encounter on Friday. In a simulated quarterfinal match on Thursday, he outplayed Lorenzo Musetti, who was the tournament and audience favourite at home, winning 4-1 4-0 4-3.
Brandon Nakashima and Jack Draper are scheduled to take on one another in the semifinal stage of the 2022 ATP Next Gen Finals on November 12. The tournament is scheduled to be held from November 8 to November 12, 2022.
The eight players at the ATP Next Gen Finals 2022 have been divided into two groups, these are the Green group and the Red group. Each player will play one match against everyone in their group and the top two from each will make it through to the semi-finals. The top finisher of one group will face the second finisher of the other. The winner of those two matches will then meet in the final to decide who will win the 2022 ATP Next Gen Finals crown.
