Rafael Nadal, tge 22-time Grand slam winner, is back on Wimbledon’s grass courts after a three-year absence. Having already won two grand slams tournaments this year, Nadal is aiming for a third major victory, which would set him up for the calendar slam in Flushing, New York, the following month. The Spaniard has two wins in a row in first two matches against Francisco Cerundulo and Ricardo Berankis. However, after a slight hiccup in third set, he trailed the match before rallying to win it in four sets. In round of 32 match against Lorenzo Sonego, Nadal shown more composure, Although he did drop the break in the third set after taking the first two, he quickly returned to win in straight sets. In round of 16 he looked even more dangerous as he won against the Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4, 6-2 however in the third set where Botic took the match for the tiebreaker still couldn’t get past through Nadal as he claim the set 7-6 (8-6) and moves toward the quarterfinal.
Taylor Fritz, the top-ranked American player, has had a hit-and-miss year but has looked near to his best this Wimbledon week. Fritz’s first ever victory at that level at the Indian Wells masters 1000 has been the highlight of this season thus far. He arrived on grass a little rusty and finished last in his openers at Hertogenbosch and Queens’, but it was a bad performance on the clay combined with minor injuries. Coming into Wimbledon, the American played with more focus in Eastbourne, where Fritz won his second ATP 250 championship. This week, Fritz’s great play continued as he entered the round of 16 after winning three straights sets against Musetti, Gray , Molcan. Fritz appeared in command against Australian player Jason Kubler in the fourth round; he dropped just eight games en route to another straight sets victory ( 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 ) and a quarterfinal matchup with Nadal. The last time they both faced it was Fritz who emerge victorious against Nadal in Indian Wells .
