Lorenzo Musetti and Jack Draper will take on one another in the round-robin stage of the 2022 ATP Next Gen Finals on November 11.
On Wednesday, Lorenzo Musetti battled back admirably after falling behind two sets to none against Dominic Stricker. He was just a few points (on the return) away from snatching the victory, but he was unable to do so and ultimately lost in the tiebreaker, 3-4 3-4 4-3 4-3 3-4. At the ATP Next Gen Finals in 2021, the former Boys’ Australian Open champion lost two of his three round-robin matches and finished last in his group. This time around, he hopes to avoid a similar fate.
Jack Draper must be frustrated to be in this situation, needing a victory in the final group match to remain in the competition after producing excellent success on indoor hard courts all year. In the first match, he was unable to defeat Dominic Stricker in a set, and in the second, he had to rally against Chun Hsin Tseng after falling behind a set. The former Boys’ Wimbledon runner-up had won 24 matches on indoor hard courts in 2022, had only five defeats, and recorded some important victories on hard courts in the second half over players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Dominic Thiem, and Felix Auger Aliassime.
Lorenzo Musetti and Jack Draper are scheduled to take on one another in the round-robin stage of the 2022 ATP Next Gen Finals on November 11. The tournament is scheduled to be held from November 8 to November 12, 2022.
The eight players at the ATP Next Gen Finals 2022 have been divided into two groups, these are the Green group and the Red group. Each player will play one match against everyone in their group and the top two from each will make it through to the semi-finals. The top finisher of one group will face the second finisher of the other. The winner of those two matches will then meet in the final to decide who will win the 2022 ATP Next Gen Finals crown.
