On Tuesday in the first round of 2022 Canadian open , Rebecca Marino of Canada will face Zheng Qinwen of China.
The most recent WTA quarterfinal Rebecca Marino has played in since 2018 Quebec City and only her second since 2011 Quebec City. Beginning with the qualifying rounds, the Canadian prevailed over Venus Williams and Andrea Petkovic in two of four straight three-set victories in Washington, D.C. For the first time in ten years, the Toronto native will soon perform in this city. She’ll be inspired by her National Bank Open comeback from the previous year in Montreal, where she upset top-50 players like Paula Badosa and Madison Keys to advance to the third round.
Despite forcing the match into a deciding set, Zheng Qinwen lost to former world number one Naomi Osaka in the first round and had to leave San Jose. She has lost six of her last 12 matches in the first round during an otherwise successful season, and three more did not go through the second round. Aside from earning her largest victory at the 125K Valencia tournament in June and making her maiden WTA quarterfinal and semifinal appearances at the Melbourne Summer Set, the 19-year-old has seen plenty of success in 2022. Since the beginning of the year, she has more than halved her rating and into the top 50.
Rebecca Marino and Zheng Qinwen are scheduled to face one another in the round of 64 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Tuesday, August 9. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 8 till August 15.
The 2022 edition of the Canadian Open is set to begin from August 8 and go on until August 15. The men’s final is scheduled to be on August 15 and the women’s one is set to be held on August 14. There will be six rounds of play in the main draw excluding the qualifiers.
