The Indian recently took part in the ITF Great Britain 16A competition, beating the likes of Haruka Kaji and Naiktha Bains to reach the finals.
German tennis player Tatjana Maria will take on India’s Ankita Raina in the first round of the 2022 Chennai Open. Maria recently participated in the 2022 US Open where she was eliminated in the very first round by Maria Sakkari. The German then participated at the WTA 125K Bari which saw her go till the quarter-finals. In the last eight, however, Maria was defeated 5-7, 1-6 by Italy’s Nuria Brancaccio. It was a shock defeat for the German as she was seeded third and Brancaccio was unseeded.
Ankita Raina’s form of late has been inconsistent, to say the least. The Indian recently took part in the ITF Great Britain 16A competition, beating the likes of Haruka Kaji and Naiktha Bains to reach the finals. However, she was defeated in the last stage by eighth seed Joanna Garland. Raina would then take part in the ITF Great Britain 11A but was defeated in the very first round by Angelica Blake.
