Adrian Mannarino and Arthur Rinderknech are scheduled to face one another in the round of 64 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Tuesday, August 9.
Adrian Mannarino came back from a set down to defeat Korea’s Kwon Soon-woo in the second qualifying round of the Canadian Open on Sunday. The left-handed Frenchman, who entered the tournament with an 18-18 record, only won 9 of the 33 points in the first set, but rallied to defeat the World No. 77, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. His best performance this year came in the Rosmalen Open, where he reached the semifinals. He also appeared in four other quarterfinals, all on hard courts in Montpellier, Dallas, Delray Beach, and Atlanta. Mannarino is 14-12 this year on hard courts and will look to improve that record in Montreal.
Following a tough three-set win in the first qualifying round, Arthur Runderknech needed only two set sets to win his second qualifying round on Sunday, but the Frenchman’s 6-4, 6-4 win over Taro Daniel was anything but easy. Rinderknech saved six of eight break points and converted four of eleven to defeat the Japanese and advance to the Canadian Open main draw for the first time in his career. The 27-year-old Frenchman struggled to maintain his momentum after a promising start to the season, finishing runner-up in Adelaide-2 and reaching the semifinals in Doha.
Adrian Mannarino and Arthur Rinderknech are scheduled to face one another in the round of 64 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Tuesday, August 9. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 8 till August 15.
