Yunseong Chung and Soon Woo Kwon will face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Korea Open on Tuesday, September 27.
Soon Woo Kwon is going through the most difficult period of his career and is hoping that the Asian swing would finally turn his luck around. He just dropped out of the top 100 in the ATP rankings and hasn’t won back-to-back main-draw matches (in knockout events) all season. The #1 South Korean player, who has played a lot of matches throughout the nation, particularly in Seoul, wouldn’t have a better chance to save his season. He came in second place once in 2017 and won the most recent Seoul Challenger in 2019.
Yunseong Chung defeated the skillful Dalibor Svrcina and Shintaro Mochizuki with strong victories to clinch a main-draw spot in Seoul this week. Before entering ATP Seoul a few days ago, he had never even participated in a qualifying match at this level. Former Junior #3 plays much better than his present standing; the only things keeping him outside the top 400 are his lack of consistency and poor conditioning. In the first three months of this year alone, he has already retired once, in the Nonthaburi Challenger.
Yosuke Watanuki and Yunseong Chung are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Korea Open on Tuesday, September 27. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 24 and end on October 2.
The 2022 ATP Korea Open is scheduled to commence on September 24 and go on until October 2 this year. The tournament will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
