Jason Kubler and Cristian Garin are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on October 17.
Jason Kubler made his ATP Stockholm debut over the weekend and defeated Jonathan Mridha and Damir Dzumhur in straight sets, 6-2 6-3 and 6-3 7-6, to secure a spot in the main draw. The Australian increased his season w/l record to 49/18 with these two victories. The 29-year-old has battled ongoing fitness issues throughout his career, and 2022 was no exception. In the past ten months, he has retired three times, including once in his most recent match in San Diego, where he was within one set of defeating eventual semifinalist Christopher O’Connell but gave up after dropping the second set.
Cristian Garin was defeated by Novak Djokovic (1-6 1-6) in Astana two weeks ago and by Alexander Bublik (5-7 2-6) in Florence the previous week in his two indoor hard court matches this year. His 2022 season has been marked by form, confidence, and fitness issues, and it appears likely that he will complete the year with a negative win-loss ratio (17/21) for the first time since 2017 (22/23). On indoor hard courts, the former world no. 17 is now on a three-match losing streak and hasn’t triumphed since beating Stan Wawrinka in three sets in the opening round of the ATP Vienna in 2020.
Jason Kubler and Cristian Garin are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on Monday, October 17. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 17 and end on October 23.
The ATP Stockholm Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 17, 2022 and conclude on October 23, 2022.
