Juan Varillas hasn’t been around long and is a newcomer to the ATP tennis tournaments but has already got some breakthrough victories in the past few months. At the Sao Leo Challenger, he shocked the entire world by lifting the title beating the likes of Bagnis, Seyboth Wild, Dutra da Silva, Lama, and Ribeiro. At the Guayaquil Challenger, he made it to the semis losing to Coria, and at the Australia Open, he made it to the first round losing to Zverev. In his last tournament which was the Argentina Open, he made it to the semis only to be beaten by Cameron Norrie. In the ongoing Rio Open, he beat Gaston in the first-round matchup by 5-7, 4-6.
Sebastian Baez has been a huge name for the last few years but the results have not done justice to his reputation at well recently. Despite his massive victory recently at the Cordoba Open, where he beat Coria in the final and on the way outside opponents such as Dellien, Barrios Vera, and Darderis, he has not made it out of the first round in the majority of the tournaments. Like at the Australian Open, where he lost to Kubler, at the Argentina Open to Lajovic, and also at the Maharashtra Open to Martinez. The same was the case at the Paris Masters and the ASB Classic, where he lost to Khachanov and Shelton respectively in the opening round itself. In the ongoing Rio Open, he beat Bellucci in the first-round matchup by 3-6, 2-6.
