John Isner hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Mannarino at the Australian Open right in the first round and also in the opening round to Barrere at the ASB Classic. He made it to the round of 32 stage of the Paris Masters losing to Rublev after beating Otte in the first match. He beat Tseng in the round of 32 matchup of the ongoing Dallas Open with the score ending 7-6, 7-6 and in the round of 16 tie, he beat Altmaier by 6-3, 7-6.
Emilio Gomez hasn’t been in good touch lately and has been losing all the recent tournaments he has played in. He will be adamant to make a change in fortune and perform well at the ongoing Cordoba Open. He couldn’t make it past the first stage mark in any of his last tournaments, losing to Cressy at the Australian Open, to Millman at the Adelaide International 2, to Carreno at the Paris Masters, and to Borges at the Tennis Napoli Cup. In the Swiss Indoors, he lost to Bublik after winning the first match against Musetti. In the ongoing Cordoba Open, he beat Diallo in the round of 32 stage by 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 and Kecmanovic in the round of 16 tie by 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.
