Jannik Sinner has been in stellar form for the past few months and he will be adamant to perform well in the Rotterdam Open as well. In his last tournament, which was the Open Sud De France he lifted the trophy beating players such as Cressy, Fils, Sonego, and Fucsovics. At the Australian Open, he made it to the fourth round losing to Tsitsipas in what was a five-set thriller. At the Paris Masters, he couldn’t make it past the first stage mark, and at the Vienna Open, he lost to Medvedev in the quarter-finals after picking up crucial wins against Garin and Francisco Cerundolo. In the ongoing Rotterdam Open, He beat Bonzi in the first-round matchup by 2-6, 6-3, 1-6, and Tsitsipas in the round-of-16 matchup by 4-6, 3-6. In the quarter-finals, he knocked out Stanislas Wawrinka by 6-1, 6-3 and Griekspoor in the semis by 7-5, 7-6.
Daniil Medvedev hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of the majority of the tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Sebastian Korda at the Australian Open in the third round after beating Millman and Giron in the first two matches. At the Paris Masters, he lost to de Minaur in the opening round itself, and at the ATP World Tour Finals, he failed to register a single win. At the Vienna Open, his time finally came as he lifted the trophy after beating the likes of Shapovalov, Dimitrov, Sinner, Thiem, and Basilashvili. In the ongoing Rotterdam Open, he beat Davidovich Fokina in the first-round matchup by 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, and in the round-of-16 matchup, he beat van de Zandschulp by 6-2, 6-2. He beat Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals by 6-2, 6-4 and Dimitrov in the semis by 6-1, 6-2.
