The Rotterdam Open, also known as the ABN AMRO Open and formerly known as the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament (1991–2021), is an indoor hard court professional men’s tennis competition. It has been held yearly at the Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands, as a part of the ATP Tour 500 series. Arthur Ashe won the inaugural Rotterdam Open tennis competition, which took place in November 1972. Due to the tournament’s March date change, it was not held the following year. The Rotterdam Open began as a World Championship Tennis circuit event and transitioned to the Grand Prix tennis circuit in 1978. It has been a part of the ATP Tour since 1990.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, the fourth-ranked player in the world, will lead the top half of the draw. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will be his opponent in the first round, and the winner of Lloyd Harris vs. Ilya Ivashka will be his opponent in the round of 16. The Greek will face the eighth-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili, who will face Mackenzie McDonald in the opening round. If the Georgian defeats McDonald, he will play either David Goffin or Alex de Minaur in the next round.

Andrey Rublev, the current champion, will begin the first round of his title defence against a qualifier before moving on to either Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech or Soonwoo Kwoon in the next round. Rublev hasn’t been playing well lately, and a difficult matchup in Rotterdam won’t help either. He is paired with fellow Russian Aslan Karatsev, who takes on Tallon Griekspoor in the opening round. Marton Fucsovics, last year’s finalist, and in-form Filip Krajinovic are also in the bottom third.

Schedule and Dates

The 2023 ATP Rotterdam Open will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifying rounds. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. The main draw of the tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 6 and conclude on Sunday February 19. Here is the tentative round-wise schedule of the ATP 500 event.
